Anyone remember Ninjak (AKA: Colin King) from the original Valiant comics way back in the 90’s? Well, Valiant Entertainment remembers, mostly because they’re the rebranded successors to the original after Acclaim went out of business. As such, they own the rights to Ninjak, and are perfectly within their rights to make a reboot comic. Or rather, another reboot comic.
Valiant Entertainment officially announces yet another reboot of Ninjak. This particular reboot is from writer Jeff Parker and artist Javier Pulido. This particular iteration of Ninjak features Colin King going on the run after a leak exposes the identity of every single MI6 agent in the world, including his own. Thus, he embarks on a globe-trotting adventure to evade the people hunting him. Or possibly, to hunt his hunters in turn. I guess we’ll just have to see what the deal is when Ninjak #1 launches on July 14, 2021. You can preorder the first issue at your local comic book store, so check it out if you’re interested.
As for why Valiant is making another reboot of Ninjak, Jeff Parker commented on that during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Apparently, they feel the time is right for a reboot in this current climate. Somehow. Parker’s specific words on the subject were:
I feel we’re tapping into a mood that’s right for the time, and issues that affect us all. Colin King’s new challenge takes him all over the world, and I think we’re all ready to experience that — if not while fighting legendary hitmen and enhanced combatants.
Ninjak: The Reboot
It’s not just the announcement of the Ninjak reboot that Valiant is showing us today. They also have 7 pages from Ninjak #1 as a little teaser of what’s to come. Just to be clear, 2 of the images are double-spreads, so they count as 2 pages for a total of 7. Check them out below:
Conclusion
