Chucky Is Making a Comeback

Chucky from the 2019 movie reboot, not the Child's Play TV series

Who doesn’t love that adorable little hellion Chucky? The murderous doppelganger of My Buddy has been the star of 7 movies over the past 30 years and is currently getting the remake treatment with a complete reboot coming out later this year. . . only unlike the other films, Dan Mancini, who created Chucky and has written all the previous movies, will not be involved. But, fear not Chucky Fans! Mancini is taking the lead on developing a Child’s Play series for Syfy.

Child’s Play: The Series

Mancini already has a working relationship with Syfy through the Channel Zero series which is an Anthology series that adapts assorted Creepy Pasta stories. In the announcement Mancini stated that “the show will be a fresh take on the franchise, allowing us to explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format, while staying true to the original vision that has terrorized audiences for over three decades now.”

As the series has just gone into development, there’s not really any substantial information out there yet, other than the fact they’re working on it. I’m not sure what Mancini has in store for the series, but I’m thinking I’d maybe like to see something similar to the 1970’s Incredible Hulk series with Bill Bixby. Chucky could move from family to family, city to city, hunting down the ancient occult relics that will allow him to leave the doll body and take up residence in a real person once more.
